Senior Pastor

 

Pastor Paul James (P.J.) Malin was born and raised on the island of Oahu in Hawaii. Before leaving for college, Pastor PJ recorded a CD of original music entitled “Footprints.” To hear other original music by Pastor PJ, click HERE and see “Encounter Band.” 

He graduated from Hawaii Baptist Academy in 1998 and went to Lewis University where he met his wife Julie. Pastor P.J. graduated with from Lewis University in 2002 with a Major in Music and a Minor in Religious Studies. Julie and Pastor P.J. were married on May 25, 2002. It was in college that Pastor P.J. first became connected with the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America.

After graduating, Pastor P.J. worked at Cross of Glory Lutheran Church while Julie earned her Masters in Special Education. Pastor P.J. then began his seminary education at the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. During his seminary education, Pastor P.J. served as a chaplain at South Suburban Hospital in Hazel Crest, a worship leader at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Park Ridge, a ministry-in-context student at Redeemer Lutheran Church in Oak Forest, and an intern at St. Mark Lutheran Church in Worth. On September 16, 2007, Pastor P.J. and Julie celebrated the arrival of their son Ayden. Pastor P.J. graduated from the Lutheran School of Theology in 2008, receiving an award entitled “Bible and the Lutheran Faith.”

Cross of Glory Lutheran Church voted to call P.J. as our Senior Pastor on May 18, 2008. Pastor P.J. started at Cross of Glory on June 9, 2008.  For more on what’s happened since Pastor PJ became pastor, visit our History page.

Pastor PJ was elected to serve on the Outreach Committee for the Northern Illinois Synod at the annual Synod Assembly in in June of 2009.
