Dinner with Friends at Paddy B’s in Orland Park – November 15

Our next Dinner with Friends is on Thursday, November 15. This is a great fellowship event – a chance to get to know people outside the church setting. (Please note: you are responsible for your own dinner, drinks, and tip.)

We will be dining at 6:30 pm at Paddy B’s at the corner of 143rd and Will Cook Road in Orland Park. Hope to see you there.

MercyMe Tickets for April 28, 2018 @ 6:00 pm

The tickets for the MercyMe concert at Rosemont on April 28th at 6:00 pm are on sale now. We would like to get a group together and attend the concert. Balcony tickets are 24.00 each with 16.38 in fees making it a total of 40.38 per ticket. Sign up and get your money to Allen Kirkland by November 4th. We need to do this quickly to guarantee availability. If you would like to purchase better seats, we ask that you please make your own arrangements.

Thanksgiving is really early this year! We are again collecting for Thanksgiving Baskets to help those less fortunate than us. Here is a list of items we are collecting. And please have them to the church by Nov 18th.

Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration

November 18, 3:00 pm
Host: First Congregational Church of Lockport, United Church of Christ
700 E 9th Street, Lockport, IL

The Lockport-Homer Glen Area Ministerial Association is pleased to invite the wider Lockport, Homer Glen, and Joliet area to attend this Interfaith Thanksgiving Celebration. The celebration will be a sharing of the various ways each faith tradition expresses thanks, gratitude and peace. There are a wide variety of communities participating; Islam, Jewish, Hindu, Episcopalian, Baptist, Independent Christians, Methodist, Lutheran and United Church of Christ along with others.

There will be two offering opportunities for this Celebration:
Fill the Pickup: we encourage people to bring items for the Fairmont and FISH Food Pantries.
Lockport Resource Center: monetary donations will be collected for the Resource Center in Lockport.

Lutheran World Federation’s Augusta Victoria Hospital Needs ELCA members’ help

Media reports say the United States will not continue to fund the Lutheran World Federation-operated  Augusta Victoria Hospital (click here for more info) in Jerusalem. The ELCA urges members to please call the White House hotline (202-456-1111) or write a comment in its comments submissions area to urge them to ensure there is no interruption of assistance for children and others in need of treatment for cancer and additional life-threatening diseases.
