Attached you will find the list of readings for the first week of our Essential Jesus sermon series. The readings are all pretty short and they each come with a couple questions to help you process what you’ve just read. Some people read them all at once, while others spread them out over the week. Do whatever works for you.
We will discuss the themes for each week’s readings in the sermon on the Sunday following our “homework.” (That means we’ll tackle this first week’s readings next Sunday, January 17.) And then on the following Wednesday, our zoom bible study will go into more detail and address and questions you may have.
Also attached are some tips for doing the readings — find a bible you like (some people are using more than one), read and discuss with others if possible, and check out our Cross of Glory website for more information.
It’s great to have you join us — and feel free to invite friends!!!
Once again this year, we have been challenged to give above and beyond our normal giving. Every dollar contributed to our year-end challenge will be matched dollar for dollar up to $6500 (note the increase from our prior $4000), and will be used to help us make up this year’s deficit and establish a financial cushion as we move into 2021.
Pastor Dana O’Brien – Advent 4
Pat McIntosh Oles teaches us how to sign phrases like “I missed you”, “I love you”, part of the liturgy — “The Lord be with you”, and “Amen”. Watch this to help us start some new traditions and learn to communicate in some new ways – both now and when we get to worship indoors together.
If you are a Facebook user, join us via Facebook live. Click on the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church Facebook site and join us promptly at 9:30. The service details will be on the screen, so be prepared to participate by speaking the prayers and confession aloud, sharing your own prayers and other comments, and singing the songs.
Services are also available on the Cross of Glory Lutheran Church YouTube channel.
