Women’s Chair Yoga – Saturday, March 24th

Tammy Kjos led our group through some exercises we can do from a chair to keep our low back, hips and shoulders flexible. We also practiced some strategies to quiet the mind chatter. If you can sit in a chair, you can do these simple poses. Donations were accepted for Centro Infantil de los Angeles. (

Update: Thank you to everyone who participated in the Chair Yoga Women’s Event. We raised $127.00 for Centro Infantil de los Angeles, our mission in Mexico!

What’s in the bag…lady?

On February 24, a group of 16 CoG ‘bag ladies’ took some time to prepare …get this…87 bags (purses, more or less) filled with care items such as toothpaste, brushes, soaps, and other useful sundries. These bags are intended to be passed out to women in our area who need help. So far, over 30 of these bags have been brought to South Suburban PADs, a women’s shelter in the Palos area. Some are heading to Morningstar Mission in Joliet. Other bags have been passed out to some of the CoG faithful for them to hand out to woman they encounter over the next several weeks who need assistance. Soon, all the bags will find an owner.

Whilst speaking to several individuals of our group seen above, all responded in a similar fashion, “A fun couple hours well spent to help women in our area who desperately need some positive in their life…”  Great job!

Ladies Retreat: Come and Be Spiritually Refreshed March 17-18

2017 Women’s Retreat is March 17-18, 2017

at Camp Manitoqua & Retreat in Center Frankfort, IL

Do you know what purpose God created you for? Do you have a dream on your heart? Do you know how to make these dreams become your reality so that you can live out the life that God intends for you to have?

These questions can be tricky, especially if we have a hard time hearing God’s voice and direction over all the noise and distractions we face day to day.

It’s time to get away for an overnight with sisters in faith! Enjoy fun and fellowship while we explore how to get to know what God’s voice sounds like and equip ourselves to become women of action in our lives, churches, and world.

We will be using the book, What Happens When Women Say Yes to God by Lysa Terkeurst to help guide our discussions.

Click here to download the retreat’s brochure.

Please contact Nicole Morin at (708) 326-4782 or the church office with any questions.

Want to spend a night doing something meaningful? We are blessed with so many comforts that it is easy to forget that the basic necessities of life can be a blessing to many who are experiencing a hard time. Come and join us at church on Saturday, January 16th   at 7 pm to assemble Blessing Bags for those who are spending time in a homeless shelter.

If you have a gently worn purse that you would be willing to donate, bring that to church so we can fill it with supplies. If we don’t have enough purses, we will use zip lock bags.

Please plan to bring at least 12 items. Travel sized items will work well. (You are welcome to contact hotels or hospitals that have surplus personal care supplies that they would be willing to donate.) A partial list is added below:

Please write your name next an item that you would like to bring. If you have other suggestions, please feel free to include them at the end of the list.

Can I Get A Do-Over???

Friday, November 6 through Sunday, November 8th

Do you remember when you were a kid and something did not go your way and you yelled, “DO-OVER!!!!” How often do we as adults wish we could yell that out?

Whether we did something we are not proud of or failed to get something done, we’ve all had that wish for a do-over.

Fortunately, we have a God who loves to grace us with do-overs. We will discover many instances where God has offered second chances to people from Biblical times until now who have asked for a do-over.

Come join us for a weekend of fun, fellowship, and learning. We will share in quiet reflection and lively group activity to help us to grow in our faith and knowledge that our God loves us each dearly and offers us the do-over we desire.
